Update:  Curiously, late in the afternoon, 2000 DeMille disappeared entirely from Hilton and Hyland.  It no longer appears on the sold list.   The link to the listing page of 2000 DeMille now gives a "page doesn't exist" message.  The L.A. Times announced the closing based on info from "real estate sources not authorized to comment on the deal."  Variety writes that "trusted celebrity real estate snitches Harvey Wallbanger and Patty Cake both swear new owner is indeed, as has been widely rumored, Angelina Jolie."  Angelina's interest in the property was in fact already confirmed through Vanity Fair when she entered escrow a month and a half ago.  It would be interesting to know what name actually appears on the deed -- it is likely that they used a trust, or possibly a holding company.  Trusts have many advantages including avoiding probate, simplifying asset distribution and keeping such distributions private.  The parcels that make up their compound were purchased through Brad's Mondo Bongo Trust, Briarcliff Trust, and Blaircliff Trust with Richie Malchar and Cynthia Pett listed as money managers. His name does not appear in public records but of course it is common knowledge that it belongs to him as he lives there.  The same should be true of the DeMille.  It would be very different if this was not their intended residence and was a pure investment play.  Title to the property could be held in the name of a trustee, who is forbidden to reveal the beneficial owner, or they could use an off-shore company.  Given the purchase price, it's clear that turning a profit with this property was not a major consideration.

The DeMille is listed as sold on real estate site Redfin with a sale price of $24.5M, just $450K below the asking price, the buyer's agent is a non-participant office.  It's labeled off-market, listing removed on Zillow.  They are making a determined effort to erase the footprints of the listing esp. the photos of the house and grounds.

Earlier:
Hilton and Hyland, the listing agents for 2000 DeMille now say it is Sold.   Most of the photos have been removed save for the one below.

Thanks to Felicity for the heads up.

BUYER: Angelina Jolie
SELLERS: Richard Grossman and Lisa Lyons
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $24,500,000
SIZE: total of (approx.) 11,000 square feet with 6 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: The longtime Los Angeles estate of pioneering filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, the jewel in the crown of the historic, celeb-saturated Laughlin Park enclave in the prosperous Los Feliz area, sold for a record shattering $24.5 million and trusted celebrity real estate snitches Harvey Wallbanger and Patty Cake both swear new owner is indeed, as has been widely rumored, Angelina Jolie.
The sky-high sale price is more than double the previous record for highest amount ever paid for a single family home in the Los Feliz area, which was the Spanish Colonial Revival-style mansion comedian Chris Hardwick and media heiress Lydia Hearst snatched up about 1.5 years ago for $11 million.
The sellers of the Demille compound, novelist Richard Grossman and art consultant Lisa Lyons, acquired the 2.1-acre multi-structure hill-topping spread in the late 1990s and, after several unsuccessful attempts to unload the property at a variety of prices between $18.95 million and $26.25 million, set it out for sale on the open market in March of this year (2016) with a $24.95 million price tag. There are a total of six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms in about 11,000-square-feet of interior space divided between the approximately 7,500-square-foot main house, pool house and self-contained guesthouse/studio.
The main residence, a stately Italianate Revival villa, was built in 1913 and acquired a few years later for a bit less than $28,000 by Mister DeMille who lived there with his family until his passing in 1959. The legendary auteur later picked up a smaller house next door, which he connected to the main house with a lengthy breezeway and used as a screening room and production office. The smaller second house, once occupied by silent film star Charlie Chaplin, was also acquired by the Grossman-Lyons in the late 1990s who several years later sold it to Emmy winning television producer John Wells who, in turn, sold it in 2007 for a tetch less than six million dollars to former studio executive and film producer Mary Parent.
The DeMille estate’s main house was extensively refreshed and updated for the Grossman-Lyons in the early 2000s by the Tichenor and Thorp architecture firm and features original details along with up-to-date creature comforts. Elegantly proportioned public entertaining spaces include a center hall entry with curved staircase, a step-down living room with fireplace set between arched French doors, and a mahogany paneled formal dining room, also with a marble-faced fireplace. Less formal family spaces include a spacious and high-ceilinged library lined with floor-to-ceiling bookcases, a family room and adjoining office/study, and an up-to-date kitchen with informal dining area set against a row of tall and slender arched casement windows. The walled, gated and extensively landscaped estate’s grounds offer a gated motor court and detached garage, vast expanses of rolling lawns dotted with mature specimen trees and a swimming pool set into a sunny clearing overlooked by a charming tea house.
Laughlin Park has always drawn its fair share of entertainment industry heavy hitters and current homeowners in the low-key but high-cost gated enclave include Natalie Portman, David Fincher, Kristen Stewart, Ellen Pompeo, will.i.am, Lauren Graham and Casey Affleck.

Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has closed sale on the Cecil B. DeMille estate, a Los Feliz mansion once owned by the early filmmaker, according to real estate sources not authorized to comment on the deal. The sale price was $24.5 million.
Found behind gates in the Laughlin Park area, the two-plus-acre estate was home to DeMille for roughly 40 years. Following his death in 1959, it was maintained by the movie mogul’s family for three decades until it was sold in 1988.
The classical-style main house, built in 1913, has been restored and renovated to the spirit of its original vintage while incorporating some modern upgrades. Details include delicate molding and wainscoting, scaled formal areas and arched French doors. There are four fireplaces, including one in the master bedroom.
Also within 11,000 square feet of interior space is a grand foyer, a formal living room, a wood-paneled dining room, six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The kitchen has been remodeled and features a broad center island.

utside, concrete steps lead through formal gardens, sitting areas and specimen trees. A pool house sits across from the swimming pool, which has cascading fountains on either side.
Elsewhere on the property, which has views of the Getty, city lights and ocean, is a guest house with a separate entrance.
The property came to market in March for $24.95 million, the Multiple Listing Service shows. In April, based on 16 sales, the median sales price for single-family homes in the area was $1.65 million, down 5.7% year-over-year, according to CoreLogic.
Brett Lawyer and Rayni Williams of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, were the listing agents.

Jolie, 41, won the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2004. Her acting credits include such films as “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” (2001), “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (2005) and “The Tourist” (2010).
Last year, she lent her voice to the animated comedy “Kung Fu Panda 3.”

  4. How some of the last pictures of Brad and Angelina together made me $10,000
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A PAPARAZZO reportedly earned a six figure sum for photographs he snapped of billionaire James Packer and former Nine Network CEO David Gyngell exchanging blows on the footpath outside Packer’s Bondi Beach penthouse in 2014.
But it was a drop in the well compared to the US$15 million earned by the couple formerly known as Brangelina for the first photos of their twins in 2008. It remains the record amount ever paid for celebrity photographs, smashing the previous US$6 million record paid to Jennifer Lopez and her ex-husband Marc Anthony for shots of their twins in the same year.
So you can imagine the size of the dollar signs that flashed before my eyes when I received an email out of the blue from a business associate with a gift attached: photos of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt getting tattooed together, just before they broke up.
They were of poor quality and low resolution — taken, apparently, on an old mobile phone. But there was no questioning their value.Wearing only a towel, Angelina was laying on a couch as a Thai tattooist used a long steel needle to ink her back. Other photos showed close-ups of the finished artwork on Angelina’s back while others Brad Pitt posing with the tattoo artist.
Coupled with the media frenzy that followed Brangelina’s bitter separation, I knew I had a chance to make some real money here.
Ironically, the tattoo designs were supposed “to symbolically bind them as husband and wife”.
